In the custom components industry, GEM’s capabilities are a cut above. Our management and supervisory teams have logged over 100 years of hands-on experience.

The bottom line – Better engineering. Better quality. Better value.

Quality Management

The trust customers have in GEM is built on our exceptional quality standards. GEM’s quality management system is certified ISO 9001:2015.

We have an experienced staff of quality, and mechanical engineers who are skilled in equipment and process validation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, control plans, first article inspection, process capability analysis, submission warranting, measurement system analysis, capabilities studies, process failure mode and effect analysis (PFMEA). Our skilled team also incorporates the additional tools to ensure the highest quality standards are achieved including design for manufacturability, design of experiments, regression analysis, reverse-engineering, change control, process flow, validation and verification, and in-house calibration.

Our state-of-the-art automated inspection labs span 800 sq. ft. with temperature, and humidity control. The dedicated staff manages 3 CMMs and gaging.

Our robust automated data collection, analysis, and reporting infrastructure allows for real-time statistical evaluation (SPC) to ensure consistency, along with automated report generation and advanced statistical analysis capabilities. We leverage our proprietary technology in our operations to maximize yield, cost, and speed to market. We utilize the following inspection technologies throughout our operations to ensure the most stringent of quality requirements are met.

Engineering

GEM is ready to meet the challenge of your product’s demanding specifications with our collaborative approach to optimize speed to market and total cost of quality. We are armed with experience when it comes to DFM, design for assemblies (DFA), design of experiments (DOE), process characterizations (PC), gage repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R), process capability, and many other tools. Our staff is experienced, educated and certified in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing practices (GD&T) to help formulate the best inspection methods to match our processes. Additionally, our engineers are certified in AutoCAD and Advanced Statistical Process Control. The following software is used in our daily operations: MasterCAM, AutoCAD, Minitab, and ENet DNC.

Supply Chain Management and Planning

The foundation of our supply chain is built on a core MRP system, thorough capacity planning, stringent business processes, and supplier validation. We enhance customer value by offering supplier managed inventory, customer inventory, and dock-to-stock shipping. We utilize real-time tracking of production operations and inventory.
Our long standing relationships with our customers are reliant on our ability to respond with flexibility, ingenuity and speed. For many years, we’ve managed a supply base with the goal of maximizing supply chain efficiency and customer value. Planning and communication are key to ensuring our operations are optimized throughout the value chain. We focus on creating alignment throughout our production as well as with our suppliers, ensuring timely visibility to requirements and flow down to their operations.
